I'm sure you've seen this already but I thought I'd share my ire. The assumption (again) is that consumers act in a causal vacuum where the only effect created by their consumption is a "good time".

Stern's job was to build a solid case for doing something about the problem. A less solid case for doing more would be utterly pointless unless we were already doing what Stern proposes. And, hello, we're not.
Or is your objection really that the Stern is capitalist and not communist? Global warming can't be that serious if the campaign to tackle it can afford to include another pointless attempt to get communism reintroduced by the back door, that will fail, and rightly so.
